Chris Kirkham Knowles

Chris spent 25 years as a Headteacher and School Improvement Lead in Primary schools. He worked in maintained and Trust schools before joining NAHT’s team in 2023. Chris has always been a strong advocate for treating the staff in schools well, believing that getting it right for children requires a highly motivated staff to feel valued every day of their working lives. Chris served on NAHT’s National Executive for many years before joining NAHT as a staff member. He chaired the Professional Committee that focused on the terms and conditions of employment of NAHT’s members, including appraisal systems and supported many colleagues locally to get their appraisal systems right for their schools.
