The Power of Collaboration for Developing Great Teaching

11:55 - 12:35

At Braunstone Community Primary School in Leicester, part of Discovery Schools Academy Trust, teachers working collaboratively have identified simple changes, such as tweaks to classroom layout, support and routines, that have improved behaviour and raised achievement in virtually every subject. As part of the initiative, teachers have gained a new perspective on their teaching by taking video recordings of their lessons and sharing them with colleagues.

Headteacher Halil Tamgumus can share simple changes teachers have made to turn classroom behaviour around and help children focus on learning. He can discuss strategies for enabling teachers to work together to identify and address the challenges they face in the classroom. Early  career teachers in his school are able to learn and develop more quickly, thanks to consistent collaboration with more experienced colleagues.
