David Allen has extensive experience of working in both the public and private sector. David is a former Cluster School Business Manager, Finance Director of an academy, Regional Advocate for the National College and currently a fellow of ISBL. David has a long association with ISBL (formally NASBM) and has done much to support the professionalisation of School Business Management. David’s experience also extends to having worked as a freelance consultant and more recently in a Local Authority overseeing academy conversions. David has a wealth of experience covering the operational, governance and leadership side in maintained Schools and Academies. He has over 17 years’ experience as a governor and is currently a trustee for the Mid Norfolk Academy Trust. Currently David works for the Department for Education in the Schools Commercial Team supporting the delivery of the Schools Buying Strategy.

The Schools' Buying Strategy published in January 2017 set out the Department of Education’s aim to support schools in saving over £1bn a year by 2020 on non-staff spend.
David and Maureen Yole will set out the work being completed by the DfE Schools Commercial Team to deliver this objective. This will include discussing the latest guidance and deals that are available to all schools.
